Little Ducklings ethos is to support children with their unique learning journey and to work closely with parents and carers. At THE HEART of our ethos is our love, passion and commitment to ‘EARLY YEARS EDUCATION’. The teams at both North Thoresby and Fulstow are led by experienced practitioners who embrace professional development and strive to embed excellent, stimulating and fun learning experiences for all children.

I am blessed to be in a position where I can support children’s development and learning through creative thinking and expression. I have over 13 years’ experience of working with children from the ages of 0 to 18, working in a Learning Support unit in Secondary school, for the Youth service, Primary schools and Preschool. This experience has empowered me to support children and give them the best start possible in life. These children are our future!

We are dedicated to ensuring every child succeeds in their unique learning and developmental journey. I believe every child has the right to achieve and at Little Ducklings our ETHOS is the very essence of children’s experiences. We are family orientated and thrive on our excellent Partnership with Parents & Carers.

My main passion is children having the right to education and through this I ensure that our close relationships with the Local Authority are consistent. Networking with local children’s centres, health visitors and others agencies, has enabled Little Ducklings to support vulnerable children and children with additional needs. My team of highly trained staff are dedicated and committed to Little Ducklings Ethos. We are one big family with shared visions!

We have 2 Facebook pages one for each setting. I also have a dedicated Facebook page which is an information page called ‘ASPERGER BURGERS’ – to help support people and their families who have Autism.

My role: To support the staff in the setting through excellent monitoring, tracking and training development. Ensuring that children get the best early years education through child initiated, shared sustained thinking and adult-led learning.

A place where everyone is valued and part of our wonderful family…

Little Ducklings encourages British values by working closely with individual children and their families. The very essence of our ethos is celebrating children’s individuality and supporting them by teaching children about ‘Democracy’, ‘Rule of law’, ‘Individual liberty’ and encouraging ‘Mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths’. Through daily routines and adult led activities children engage with the staff and children, which allows them to understand respect and boundaries. Children explore through child-initiated learning and learn how to embrace each others individual personalities. The setting offers a safe environment where children become confident and learn to take risks. We encourage self respect and respect of others by supporting children to make decisions.

The fundamental British values are:
Rule of law.
Individual liberty.
Mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths.
“We encourage independence and new skills”

We worked with Holton-le-Clay preschool to produce a case study on communication in early years. We are looking forward to seeing if it is going into publication in 2017.

Creativity and Play:  Fostering Creativity

We love to get creative and explore many types or materials and medias. Children need to be creative and explore their imagination, this helps them to grow into confident and independent learners.

Creativity is the freest form of self-expression. There is nothing more satisfying and fulfilling for children than to be able to express themselves openly and without judgment. The ability to be creative, to create something from personal feelings and experiences, can reflect and nurture children’s emotional health. The experiences children have during their first years of life can significantly enhance the development of their creativity.

Connor has loved coming to Ducklings this year, he made some lovely friends and the staff have been amazing with him, he has been brought on so much since attending, we will miss you all. Thank you for everything! Fiona, North Thoresby

“My little boy started at Ducklings a few weeks ago, to be honest I was dreading the whole settling in process and thought it would be a nightmare, he’s never coped well with new things and has always been very dependant on me. It’s been made so easy for me the excellent staff at Ducklings have supported both me and my son through this process and I feel confident and more than Happy that he’s comfortable in his surroundings and is even settled enough to cuddle up for a sleep. This is a massive break through for him and in the few weeks he’s been going we can already see massive improvements in his confidence, coping with change as well as his speech (which was our main aim) I have no doubt that I made the right choice choosing Ducklings for Edward and would recommend both the Thoresby and Fulstow settings to anyone looking for Outstanding Childcare delivered by a wonderful team of caring, thoughtful, happy, fun people that myself and my son both adore. I Can not thank you all enough!” Emily – North Thoresby, Lincs

“Fletcher is on his second week at little ducklings. Had no tears. Settled straight in. He’s loved going each day. And gets up to so many fun things. We have loved seeing pictures of what he’s been up to at nursery on Facebook. Staff are all polite and helpful. Thank you.” Hannah – Louth, Lincs

“I spent a long time looking for a nursery for my 2 year old as he was very strong willed and a real live wire (a bit of a nightmare really!)I wanted somewhere that would nurture him and not dampen his spirit, as many places seemed too dull, too generic, too dark, too stuffy and too old fashioned for him……then I found Ducklings which is a 30 mile round trip for me. The staff immediately saw all the good in him and actively found things to actually encourage his behaviour in a way that brought out the best in his fiery, stubborn ways – they never saw anything he did as negative…they just looked at ways of working with him and turning everything into a positive. His behaviour improved massively very fast but he still kept his character and in fact even more so as the encouragement he received boosted his self esteem. The staff are very much there for parents – more than any other setting I have experienced. Everything is tailored to make life easier and more simple for parents, which is so appreciated by us that work – I run my own business and the staff know I am always in a rush and are so sympathetic to my hectic lifestyle. It’s a very special place. It’s like no other for the standard of care and development individually to each child – the environment for learning is incredible. My son loves it and so do I. The best thing is – the staff love my son for who he is – they have never tried to change him or make him conform – they have laughed with him at his antics and embraced his crazy, wild child character. Couldn’t be happier.” Pamela – Caistor, Lincs
